What are vinyl die-cut decals?
Vinyl die cut decals are graphic cut outs using self-adhesive coloured vinyls. They are intricately cut by machine (not printed with ink) followed by the removal of the negative space, leaving only the design itself to be installed.

Unlike printed decals where the graphics are ink printed onto a clear or white vinyl backing, die cut decals do not come with any backing. Instead, your wall colour serves as the background giving a clean, seamless & professionally painted effect.

What are the available colours that I can choose from?
We carry 3 ranges of colours - MATTE, METALLIC & FROSTED.
MATTE colours are solid finishes. They are the most popular and are suitable for all surfaces including walls & glass.
METALLIC colours come in a matte finish and offer a sheen. They are non-reflective and are also suitable for all surfaces including walls & glass.
FROSTED colours are semi-translucent and are ideal for glass surfaces.
How are wall decals commonly used?
For residential homes, wall decals are popularly used as decorative wall art in all areas of the homes - living rooms, dining halls, childrens' rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, balconies etc.
Most customers install decals on painted walls while others can opt to have them on glass doors, shower screens, windows and even ceilings!

Will the decals crack, peel, fade or warp?
If the decal is properly applied as directed, you should not have such issues.
Also, as your decals are die cut (and not ink printed), there will not be any colour fade issue.
Are Decorette's decals safe for children?
Absolutely! Our decals are widely used to decorate childrens' bedrooms, nurseries, schools and child care centres.
Decorette uses high quality non-toxic vinyl materials imported from Europe that do not contain hazardous substances. They are REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) compliant and have been certified to be lead chromate free.
What kind of surfaces are SUITABLE for decals?
Our decals can be applied on any clean, dry, flat surfaces that are free of grease, wax and silicone.

What kind of surfaces are UNSUITABLE for decals?
Examples of unsuitable surfaces include:
- roughly structured, sharp, bumpy surfaces
- brick, concrete, cement walls, heavily plastered walls, gypsum board partitions
- walls with very old paint that flakes or peels off very easily on its own
- walls painted with paints containing silicone or teflon additives. These usually have a shiny finish and feels waxy to the touch
- walls painted with special effects paints such as Nippon Momento range with glitter, powder, or textured effects

What kind of paints work best for decals?
Generally, most paints in the market should do fine.
What would not work for decals are paints containing silicon or teflon additives.
Can decals be applied to newly painted walls?
Newly painted walls need to be fully dried and cured. Drying is different from curing. Paints may feel dry to the touch hours after painting but solvents or stabilizers may continue to evaporate for days.
This evaporation process (curing) needs to be completed before decals can be installed over the paintwork. Decorette recommends waiting at least 3 weeks before applying the decals.
Can the decals be installed on wallpapers?
We don't recommend installing decals on wallpapers. This is because wallpapers vary widely in texture and finishing. Most wallpapers would have a layer of laminate over them and this makes adhesiveness tricky.
Are there any other areas I should avoid installing the decals on?
Walls that face the air-conditioning (aircon) directly should be avoided as the aircon draft may dry up the adhesiveness of the decal over time.
Walls that are damp are not suitable as well. These could be walls that back up to cooling systems which could lead to condensation seeping in through the walls.
With Decorette's test decals, what should I take note of?
You have received our test decals to test on your surfaces because you were unsure if decals would be suitable for your surfaces.
Note that as dust and dirt can affect the effectiveness of the decals, do clean the intended surface first and allow to dry out completely before applying the test decals. After applying, leave the test decals on for at least one day.
If the decals holds firm to the surface, you may go ahead and place your orders with us. However, if the decals start to peel or curl at the edges, then it's a clear sign that your surface is not suitable for wall decals.
Is it easy to install the decals myself?
Our decals are all designed for DIY self install purpose and we encourage you to give it a go.
With a little patience and deft hands, you should be able to install the decals yourself like so many of our customers have done.

Is there a difference between installing decals on walls and installing on glass?
Yes, there is a difference in the techniques for installation on painted walls and installation on glass surfaces.
For walls, the standard dry installation method is used.
For glass, the wet installation method is recommended for a smooth, bubble-free installation.

Do the prices of the decals include installation?
Does Decorette provide decal installation service?
Sure we do. As much as we encourage our customers to D-I-Y and install their own decals, we understand that some of you would rather leave it to the experts and get it done right.
Installation charges of our in-store designs for residential homes starts from $50 onwards.
For custom designs and corporate/commercial projects, installation rates vary according to the size of decals and complexity of project. So, please get in touch with us directly.
How long do decals last?
The decals should last at least 2-3 years, depending on the surface it was applied to, the weather conditions and how you care for it.
How easily can the decals be removed?
We use high-quality vinyls with removable adhesive that does not leave any residue on walls.
To remove, simply lift up one corner of the decal and slowly peel the decal from the surface.
Heating the decal slightly with a hairdryer makes removal easier.
Take your time when removing the decals to prevent paint chipping, if any.
Removing decals from glass or window surfaces, however, may leave a residue which can be easily removed with varnish thinner.
Can the decals be reused?
Decals are for one-time use and can be easily stretched or torn in the process of removal.
Besides, it would not be as adhesive after the first application.
How do I clean or maintain the wall decals?
We recommend that you use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean your wall decal. Dab or wipe over the surface gently. Do not allow water to seep under the edges of the vinyl, as this can loosen the adhesive.
Avoid using cleaners or glass cleaners that contain alcohol, abrasives, citrus additives, or ammonias.
Am I able to customise my own decals?
Certainly! Our team of experts would be happy to work with you to tailor the decal to suit your space and achieve the effect you desire.
What kind of information do I need to provide for decal customisation?
Here are a few things we need from you:
a) Share with us your ideas, pictures of text, quotes or reference designs that you like
b) Desired decal size
c) A photo of the wall or space you are intending to apply the decal on (optional but would help us to visualise the space)

I have no idea what size of decal is best suited for my wall. Would Decorette be able to advise?
Sure! Just let us know the size of your wall (width and height), take a photo to show us, and we’d be happy to give you recommendations.
How long does customising a decal take?
We will be able to give you the artwork within 3 to 4 working days once we receive your confirmation of order. The duration is also subject to the time you take on the approval process. We can deliver the finished decal within 2 to 4 days once you approve the final artwork.
I am not good in visualising / decorating. Would Decorette be able to advise me on colours as well?
Sure do! Let us know the colour scheme of your room and the colour of the wall where the decal will be applied. Better yet, send us some photos of the space. We’ll gladly work with you to pick out the colours that suit your space.
What are the available colour choices?
We carry a range of colours and finishing (matte / metallic / frost) for you to pick for your design.
Frosted colours are highly recommended for glass surfaces (e.g. mirrors, windows, etc) as they are semi-translucent.

Are there any designs that cannot be customised with die cut vinyl decals?
As our decals are 'die-cut' from coloured vinyls (not printed), most designs are mono-coloured, creating a classic silhouette look. Multi-coloured designs can be created using separate layers of materials.
Because of this, we are not be able to print colours on decals so replicating photos are not do-able. Designs that contain shading effects or colour gradients are also not possible.
In addition, because the materials we carry are pre-coloured (see our range of colours), we are not able to cut for designs where specific colours have to be maintained, such as a corporate colour that is of a certain pantone.

In what form does the gift card come in? Is this a physical card?
The gift card is an e-card with a unique coupon code for one-time redemption.
When making a purchase, the recipient just need to key in the coupon code and our system will deduct the voucher amount (i.e. value of the gift card) accordingly from the purchase amount.
What can the gift card be used for?
The gift card can be used to purchase our in-store vinyl wall decals or patterned paint rollers.
The gift card cannot be used for decal customisation service and delivery / shipping fees.
What is the validity of the gift card?
The gift card has a validity of 6 months from your preferred start date.
How long do you take to issue the gift card?
All gift cards are delivered in e-PDF form via email within 48 hours of purchase.
ORDERING & SHIPPING
Do I need an account with Decorette to purchase online?
No, it is not necessary to sign up for an account with Decorette to purchase. You can follow through the checkout process by clicking on the "CHECKOUT AS GUEST" option.
However, by signing up an account with Decorette, you can get access to your order history and details. Subsequent purchase cycles will also be much faster since our system would already have your information such as delivery/shipping addresses.
I have tried to use the coupon code at checkout but the system won't accept it. What should I do?
In the rare occasion that you cannot get your coupon code to work, here are a few things to check for:
1. Please ensure that your coupon code is within its validity period.
2. Note that the coupon code is case sensitive so make sure you enter it the way it is.
3. You need to log in to your account at the Check Out page for coupon codes to be validated. If you do not have an account, do sign up for one before completing your purchase. It is only a less than 1 minute process.
If you are still experiencing problems, do drop us an enquiry and we will try to get it solved for you.
How long does it take for my order to be ready?
When you order from our online store, it will take about 3 to 5 working days to process your order once it's been confirmed (i.e. paid for).
We will contact you once your order is ready to re-confirm delivery / collection details.
What payment options do you accept?
We accept both Bank Transfer (for Singapore buyers) and Credit Card Payments (via Paypal).

Can I pay in a different currency other than Singapore Dollars (SGD)?
Yes! We use Paypal to process all credit card payments and your home currency will automatically be converted during the checkout process (after you are redirected to Paypal).
However, on our website, your purchase amount will still be displayed in Singapore Dollars (SGD).
I'm having problems with Paypal when making payment. What should I do?
In cases where you are having problems with the Paypal page, please note there is no need to re-order again.
Simply log into your account (see login box on the top of every page), click on your order number to view your order details and there should be a "Paypal" button on the order page so you can try the payment process again.
Please note the Paypal button will only show up if payment has not yet been processed, so there is no need to worry about making double payments.
*Error Messages From Paypal*
If you receive the error message "Paypal does not allow shipping to your selected country" when accessing your Paypal account to make payment, this is because the Paypal account you originally created has a different shipping address as to what has been entered on our website. To get around this problem, we can send you a separate Paypal invoice to make payment. Simply email us to let us know if you are experiencing this problem.
Can I place my order offline (i.e. without going through the website)?
Do you do delivery for local purchases?
We make delivery within Singapore through a third-party courier service who helps us with all local deliveries.
The rate is $8.50 per delivery.
Available delivery time slots are:
- AM SLOT : 10am - 5pm
- EVE SLOT : 5pm - 10pm
We will contact you once your order is ready for delivery to re-confirm your delivery time slot. Please ensure there will be someone around to receive the delivery.
Estimated delivery time (including processing time) is about 3 to 5 working days from the time orders are confirmed.
Do you ship overseas?
We ship worldwide! International postage rates start from SGD$15 and will vary depending on your order quantity.
Please allow for approximately 3 working days to process your order, on top of the following estimated delivery time:
